Sometimes the ceiling simply is not deep enough. The IC8 Slim answers that with the same 8-inch cone area as the IC82 in a chassis that needs about 122 mm behind the plasterboard instead of 170 — a quarter less depth, which is often the difference between a speaker and a compromise. Totem swap the MHEX cone for polymer-impregnated carbon fibre here: light, stiff, fast, and content on anything from 10 to 125 watts. The trade for the shallow box is honest — 50 Hz rather than 38 — so add a subwoofer if the room is meant to do films as well as music. The cutout is 242 mm and the ceramic tweeter still pivots toward the seats.
