Totem Acoustic TO LOON BLACK loudspeaker
Canada did not put an eagle on its dollar coin, but a loon. At dusk its call carries for miles across a lake, impossibly far for so modest a bird.
This loudspeaker does exactly that. Where most small monitors demand one listening chair, the Loon still holds together well past 45 degrees off-axis — for a room where people move, or a desk, a metre from your face. Behind it sits the gentlest filter in the range, a first-order crossover at 2.5 kHz, feeding a 5.75-inch woofer with a copper-clad voice coil and a laser-etched textile dome. At 3.86 kg each the cabinet is genuinely light, and it still reaches 51 Hz. Totem voiced it as the rear channel for the Bison series as well.
Give it fifty to eighty hours before you judge it — a call only carries far once it has found its breath.
