Totem Acoustic TO KIN SLIM IC8 PAIR loudspeaker
A spirit takes up no room. That is roughly what the IC8 Slim asks of a ceiling: almost nothing, and still the full voice of an eight-inch.
Sometimes the ceiling simply is not deep enough. The IC8 Slim answers that with the same 8-inch cone area as the IC82 in a chassis that needs about 122 mm behind the plasterboard instead of 170 — a quarter less depth, which is often the difference between a speaker and a compromise. Totem swap the MHEX cone for polymer-impregnated carbon fibre here: light, stiff, fast, and content on anything from 10 to 125 watts. The trade for the shallow box is honest — 50 Hz rather than 38 — so add a subwoofer if the room is meant to do films as well as music. The cutout is 242 mm and the ceramic tweeter still pivots toward the seats.
Barely four fingers above the plasterboard, and the room sounds as though somebody is listening in. Spirits, after all, need very little space.
